Just got back from Pitchfork Music Festival... great time with lots of great shows. Youth Lagoon, Real Estate, Cloud Nothings and (of course) Danny Brown were highlights, but much has been written about that elsewhere (like here).
I stopped at Wazoo after work on Tuesday (no Art Fair crowds to fight then) and bought the new Twin Shadow CD, Confess. I was a pretty big fan of George Lewis, Jr's 2010 album, Forget, and really enjoyed his set during Pitchfork last year. However, this new album is on an entirely different plane. Tons of synths and great hooks make for an album that is clearly 80's-inspired but not entirely stuck in nostalgia.
Stream it for free below... My faves right now are Run My Heart and Beg For the Night, but the entire album is awesome. He plays at the Crofoot in Pontiac on August 1, the same night as Frank Ocean in Detroit :(
